CroatiaūüĆī

Today is July 16th,

My trip is almost over but I am ready to return home and begin my new life. I found backpacking is quite the experience but I more enjoy staying in one place at a time for a certain time period. I am excited to go home and eat loads of ketchup and drive a car yet again. Plus not being lost all the time lol.

What have I learned from backpacking? I learned that anything in life is possible if you want it enough. Dreams only come true if you make them. People always say o my gosh you’re so lucky to go there and there. However, traveling is not always cake and ice cream. There is difficulties such as being lost, not being able to find your hostel, not knowing what the hell people are saying, missing your flight, paying extra fees or hidden fees. I find now through most situations i just stay very calm and accept the fact that it’s happening, as long as I tried there is no more I can do. You must accept the things you cannot change.

On another note, traveling is a lesson and a great experience. I have now seen some very beautiful places that not many people see. I am blessed as not everyone has this opportunity. I have met great people from all walks of life and made some great memories. I also learned how much I take things for granted when I don’t have it. I have only about 100 dollars left and its interesting trying to make it all work. Though it would be nice to just to go straight back to Mexico or Barcelona to live, I can’t. Unfortunately, in life you have to work for what you want. I have hopes of moving to one of these places in the near future. Just know anything is possible. Money is important but it doesn’t need to determine your happiness.

Service announcement if you have not yet been to Croatia, GO!!!!

Buda-pest

Whats up everyone?!

The last two weeks have been so busy. My traveling here has been a great experience and has opened my eyes to many things. There is so much to say I feel I can’t write it all.

Now, Iam in Budapest and it is very beautiful here. It has a large mixture of modern and old. The weather is hot but it feels very nice. They have really good gelato here and we went to a shop where they shape your ice cream cone like a flower. Tonight, we are going to a spa party so I will see how that goes.

My traveling has showed me many things. For instance how to have more patience and go with the flow. The other day in London we missed our flight as we thought we would make it in time by bus. Turns out the bus takes two times longer to get there. We had to pay about 90 dollars to have our flight switched over. That day was a huge mess but it’s okay cause I made it here to Budapest.

London was good. It had some nice attractions but I think people talk it up a lot. The best moments were the unplanned and getting lost. Plus going to the wrong abbey road lol. I have to get ready now hope everyone is staying true to their dreams and working hard to make them come true. Xoxo.

Barcelona

Hola como estas..?

Barcelona…how is it? It’s wonderful really..it is so beautiful here. I would love to live here. Yesterday I met up with my best friend! She was getting hit on already just sitting at the park lol. Also, it is so hot here compared to Amsterdam.

We then went to the beach which was extravagant! It took us a while to get there but it was nice. We then ate dinner which I ate a burger with an egg, it was pretty good. And we drank sangria and it was so gooodd. I was surprised it tasted really good but was so strong.

It’s almost 5 here and I am going to the beach soon! So excited! Talk soon.

Amsterdam xxx

It’s currently 2:50 am and Iam sitting at Starbucks inside the Amsterdam airport. In a few hours Iam going to Barcelona. Btw Starbucks here has way better flavors just saying.

Let’s talk about the trip so far. On late Saturday I went to the airport at about 3am. I left Mexico and got to Fort Lauderdale at about 9am. I then sat at that airport until 10pm. Ya I know crazy long time. Then I flew and got to Copenhagen at about one. Then finally arrived to Amsterdam around 6pm. It felt like the longest trip of my life. I had met a girl from England on the way to my hostel she was hilarious. She actually came with me to help find my hostel. Which we laughed when I found my hostel was in the red light district.

My first night I met two girls from Denmark.  We went out and walked through the red light district. It was pretty awesome and full of life and activity. Here there is many coffee shops, food, tattoos, and whatever possible. The streets were packed like walking through Times Square but only through a more narrow road. I found a shop only dedicated to ducks and cows lol. There is also many cheese shops and it tastes so wonderful here.

The second day. I actually met a girl from Houston and she gave me some travel tips. I then went on a free tour of the city. After I ate some popular Dutch food. Which was good I love there things that look like waffle cookies haha. The supermarkets here have some really delicious food and it’s incredibly cheap. I tried this chocolate with Oreos and it was so good!!! I also then went to the ice bar. This was cool they gave you some free drinks and you could freeze for a bit. We then went looking for this bar and on the way it started raining. We then got lost and I was drenched, when we finally found it the line was so long!

Today, I woke up and had to hurry and check out of the hostel. Which I recommend if you ever stay in Amsterdam go to the youth hostel meeting point. It’s a great place to stay and good beds. After checking out I was supposed to go to a canal tour. I was going then I got lost lol. I said f it and ventured to find the Amsterdam sign. And vondal park I believe it’s called. I  really love that park it’s so soothing. I sat there and ate bread while looking over a pond.

The architecture is amazing in Amsterdam. You will see some houses lean forwards or some are just leaning. If they lean forward it was done on purpose to help get things through the window. If sunk and leaning that just means to much moisture happened beneath. I will be back on Monday. I can say this has been amazing and still hard to believe it’s actually happening. Much love!

Adios…

Time has flown by I can’t believe it. Living in Mexico was one of the most difficult but best experiences I have ever had. I will be back as I have hopes of living here soon. For now I am just trying not to have a heart attack because I leave tonight. This is my first big travel and I will be alone for a few days. I’m trying to stay calm and go with the flow.

Yesterday, my family had a fiesta for me and it was fabulous. I ate so much food it was dangerous haha seriously. Let me just say here in Mexico I eat a lot…and we had cake which was fabulous as always. We danced and ate a lot plus took many photos.

On Thursday, we went to a museum. And ate ice cream which was okay. It was American so it tastes differently here. Other than that I haven’t done much. I play a lot of basketball with my cousin..just a few updates so talk later or as soon as possible!

Hello Monday June 20th

My last Monday her in Mexico City can you believe it?! I had so many great times here as well and hard times. I really hope to return again by March. As I am expected to come for my primas quince. Which here is the 2nd biggest party in your life other than your wedding. On Sunday I am leaving to go to Europe insane! I have got so used to living here that things which I really noticed or bothered me, I notice no more. I am so used to speaking and hearing Spanish I think it will be weird to return to the American lifestyle.

Yesterday, was amazing we went to cuidad Santa Fe, it’s a part of Mexico City. It pretty much looks like a mini California with huge sky scrapers and many rich people. We went to the mountains there and looked at this museum not sure what it was called. It looked amazing and the air was so fresh and clean. We also did a lot of hiking and I ate some bomb food. We then went to the mall located in Santa Fe which is about the 3rd largest in all Latin or South American countries. Here I went ice skating with my prima. I taught her how to ice skate which is awesome because she will always remember that experience. She did a great job really. You should have seen the others dropping like a bag of potatoes. Hahah I kind of felt bad for some because they were so bad at it. It was a interesting.

We then finally returned home around 6pm. Then ate tacos and guacamole. Had some beers. Here is the only place  perfectly acceptable to get kind of tipsy and go play basketball. Lol. I went and played with my aunt, uncle, and prima. It was so much fun. Being yesterday was Father’s Day which I usually never celebrate, it was great to celebrate with my uncle who is a great figure to his children. While playing basketball I saw just how much my uncle and my cousin were smiling and you could see the pure happiness in their face. Sometimes those are the moments I wish I could have had. I am glad though I could be a part of their moment. I enjoy the happiness of the little things.

I ate some American food here yesterday and it still was a let down ahah. Advice: never eat American food in other countries it tastes weird as f. Well talk soon!

Send my love?

Hello, hello!

Let me just say me:0 tequila:1 haha. Yesterday, I went out with my cousin and let’s just say it was interesting. My soul hurts from the drastic amounts of beer and tequila I had. We were at a house party then at 2am went to a dance club. My skills dancing to salsa are about as good as a baby learning how to walk..rough. Reggaeton yeah that’s easy. I ended up  arriving home around 6am. I had fun and enjoyed my crazy antics haha.

Yesterday, I also went to the zoo with my family. It was ok there the animals looked very poorly taken care off. But dang lets just say there is some handsome looking Mexicans haha. Just had to point that out. If you ever come to Mexico make sure to go to Chapultepec. It is amazing with many things to do. You’ll see the river clowns, vendors, paddle boats, and much more. Also I held that yesterday hahah!!!ūüėĪ

Time

Time where has it gone?

So much has changed for me in the last year. I lost people and gained some people. My mistakes have taught me to know better. I am glad everything happened as I wouldn’t be who I am today. My stay here in Mexico is almost up, meeting my family for the first time, only speaking Spanish it was amazing. I will miss them but I will be back. My life will no longer be the same in two months. I am excited and scared for the future. But have high hopes for great travels and meeting new people.

Shout out to my few best friends and family for being the real mvps! You will always be in my heart and be with me wherever I go. I am thankful for you all. So sappy I know. Haha. So cheers to lost pathways and new beginnings.

Love,

Alanna

Explore

I love exploring and finding new things. Yesterday, I went downtown and went to barrio chino. This is pretty much Mexico City’s China town. It was pretty cool. Then in Z√≥calo the military was folding the giant flag and it was so windy some of the men fell over. Poor guys lol. A part I love about it here is that it looks like Europe in some places. The architecture is amazing.

I also met another one of my aunts on Monday she is hilarious. I’m gonna be honest I have so much family I don’t even know their names. Yikes. I meet a new aunt, uncle, or cousin all the time. Sometimes my aunts or uncles are near the same age as me awkward. Also, I tried some Mexican tequila and dang it was strong.

Tomorrow, we are heading to Huatulco. This trip is the last big trip as I am leaving next weekend. Which is sad I don’t wanna go. We will be at the beach for three days. And it will also be my primas birthday tomorrow. I am starting to get a grasp on Spanish but it’s still difficult. Today I tried learning the Mexican tradition song of happy birthday. It’s very different than the American traditional song.
